An Identification and Decision Guide to Cypress Problems is now available on the NC State Plant Disease and Insect Clinic's "Useful Links" page. We developed this guide with the dual intention of facilitating field diagnoses of problems with arborvitae, Leyland cypress, and Japanese cedar, as well as improving the quality of samples submitted to the PDIC of those kinds of trees.
In the fall we get a lot of inquiries from homeowners concerned about natural needle shed, especially in arborvitae. That and many other common problems in North Carolina landscapes are addressed in this guide. Your feedback is welcome.
