Directions:

Important: Before heading to campus, please read the information labeled “Method 2: Bringing the sample to the PDIC” on our Packing and Shipping page.

For any samples other than those for diagnosis of diseases of turf and ornamental grasses, we are located in 1227 Gardner Hall on the north campus of North Carolina State University. The street address is 100 Derieux Place. Note to GPS users: not all routes are open at all times of day. There are two choices when when coming to the clinic in person.

OPTION 1: DAN ALLEN DR. TO YARBROUGH DR.
Note: This option has been modified to reflect construction closures taking place during March of 2024. This option will get you closer to the clinic, but there is no guarantee that the loading zone space will be available.

  • Important: You must call NC State Transportation at 919-515-3424 to request a virtual 30-min loading permit.

  • Turn south from Hillsborough St. onto Dan Allen Dr.
  • At the traffic light, turn left (East) onto Yarbrough Dr.
  • Turn left after the greenhouses and go down into the space between Fox Labs and the Biological Resources Building. There is a loading zone (LZ) parking space there, which may be available.
  • Leave your vehicle and walk to the door at the South end of Gardner Hall. Enter the building and walk to the end of the corridor, passing through two sets of doors. Turn right to go down the next hallway and follow the signs to the Plant Disease and Insect Clinic.
  • If you have a particularly large sample, feel free to come and ask us to help you bring it in or subsample from it.
  • Note: Before 9 a.m. daily it is possible to reach Yarbrough Dr. via Dan Allen Drive from Western Boulevard.

OPTION 2: WALKING FROM THE DAN ALLEN PARKING DECK

  • From Hillsborough St., turn south onto Dan Allen Dr.
    (Note: the approach from Western Blvd. is closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
  • Turn right at the first traffic light, just before the railroad bridge.
  • Proceed a few hundred feet to the credit-card-pay entrance to the parking deck, and park your vehicle.
  • Gardner Hall is about 200 yards to the east of the parking deck.
    Follow the walking route indicated by the yellow dots on the map.
