Two significant changes are coming to the PDIC this spring:
  1. Our lab will be moving to the Varsity Research Building (Module 10).
  2. We will be launching a new database app (replacing the current database) for entering and reporting out samples submitted to the clinic.

First of all, we are excited about these changes! For example the new lab will be much easier to access (e.g. parking will be directly in front of the lab) and we will occupy newly renovated lab space. As for the new database app, it will have several new functions and will have a cleaner interface and more security.

Regardless, this will require some attention to differences from how things are currently done. For example, our physical address will change, so people will need to remember that when they send samples. Also people will need to create a new account in the new sample system.

Fear not, though! We will be guiding people through the process when the time comes. We appreciate people's patience as we transition, but we will use this post to update our progress on these items. Check back later for more updates.

[Note: the Turf Diagnostic Lab is not impacted by this move]

  • Please use the loading zone (LZ) spots at the right side of the parking lot at Module 10 when dropping off samples. Do not use the rest of the parking lot, including the spaces right in front of the entrance, unless you have a C/CC or C/DD permit. We've already had a client get a parking ticket.

  • We're here!!!! Although it's still a little while before we'll have everything neatly put away, we are happy to welcome samples. We hope to process them as efficiently as possible, but getting used to the new lab might delay things a little. We appreciate your patience as we get settled in.

  • Our new address will be as follows: Campus Box 7532, 1575 Varsity Dr., Module 10, Raleigh, NC 27606
  • It is likely our state courier number (53-61-21) will still work to get packages to us, but we will update this information when we know more.

April 15th, 2025:
  • The clinic will begin the moving process the week of April 21st and will be closed from April 24th through April 30th. Samples received by the 23rd may or may not be completed before we close. During the closure all samples received will be placed on hold until we can resume operations. Please plan accordingly and see below regarding out-of-state samples.

April 10th, 2025:
  • The PDIC will not be accepting samples from outside the state of North Carolina beginning April 21st. Applying for and receiving our USDA-APHIS permit for our new location will take some time. We are working as quickly as possible to move that process along. Unfortunately we cannot speculate as to when we will receive the permit and be able to resume processing out-of-state samples. Please keep an eye on this page for updates.

March 20th, 2025:
  • We now have a move-in date! We will be moving into the new space on Monday April 28th, 2025 (barring major issues or delays). The clinic will be closed for business a few days before and after this date to ensure the move goes smoothly. We will post more details about our closure, new address, etc. soon.
  • The database app is about ready to share with folks to test out! If you are  interested, please contact us and we'll send you a link to submit test samples.

January 24th, 2025:
  • We do not have a definitive move-in date to the new lab space, but it will likely be sometime around May, perhaps earlier.
  • Regarding the new database app, we will be asking some people to help test it soon. If you are a member of NC State Extension and are interested in testing it out please contact us!
