Directions:

Important: Before heading to campus, please read the information labeled “Method 2: Bringing the sample to the PDIC” on our Packing and Shipping page.

For any samples other than those for diagnosis of diseases of turf and ornamental grasses, we are located in 1227 Gardner Hall on the north campus of North Carolina State University. The street address is 100 Derieux Place. Note to GPS users: not all routes are open at all times of day. Below are detailed instructions for two ways to reach us in person.

OPTION 1: PULLEN RD. → STINSON DR. → YARBROUGH DR. → DERIEUX PL.

Note: A virtual 30-min loading permit can be obtained by calling NC State Transportation at 919-515-3424.

Map to the PDIC via Stinson Dr. and Yarbrough Dr.

  • From the small traffic circle on Pullen Rd, turn west onto Stinson Ave.
  • Where Stinson Ave ends, turn left briefly then right onto Yarbrough Dr.
  • Turn right onto Derieux Pl.
  • Enter the small parking lot at the end of Derieux Place and look for an unoccupied loading zone (LZ) parking spot.
  • Important: You must call NC State Transportation at 919-515-3424 to request a virtual 30-min loading permit.
  • Enter the door to Gardner Hall at the north end of the parking lot and follow the signs to the Plant Disease and Insect Clinic.
  • If you have a particularly large sample, feel free to come and ask us to help you bring it in, or subsample from it.

OPTION 2: WALKING FROM THE DAN ALLEN PARKING DECK

If you need to spend more than 30 minutes on campus, find your way to the Dan Allen Parking Deck. Because of multiple construction sites, the best routes are

  • Hillsborough St. to Friendly Dr. to Yarbrough Dr. or
  • Western Blvd. to Morrill Dr. to Cates Ave. to Dan Allen Dr. to Yarbrough Dr.

Proceed a few hundred feet to the credit-card-pay entrance on the south side of the parking deck, and park your vehicle. Gardner Hall is about 200 yards to the east of the parking deck.
