Boxwood Blight Verification for Nurseries

In an effort to assist North Carolina nursery producers in their efforts to limit the spread of boxwood blight, samples submitted exclusively for purposes of verifying the presence of this disease will be processed free of charge. Please note the following:
  • Sample submission information may be submitted online or via hand-written form, and should include the cultivar. The comments section must mention any fungicide applications made within the 30 days prior to sampling.
  • Representative symptomatic branches should be collected. Do not submit material that appears to you to be healthy.
  • Double-bag all samples. Gallon-sized bags are a good amount of material. Label each bag with the specific location, nursery block, etc.
This free service is not available for boxwood plants in home or commercial landscapes. Those users will be charged the usual diagnostic fee and should send a complete sample including branches, roots, and soil, so that a complete work-up can be performed.
